Mauritius coach Guillaume Moullec says his side are determined to finish their World Cup qualifying campaign on a high as they prepare to host Cameroon in their penultimate Group D fixture.
The island nation sit near the bottom of the table but will play their final two matches at home, offering a chance to end their campaign on a positive note in front of their supporters.
“We’re heading into the last two matches of this World Cup qualifying series, and we have the privilege of playing both of them at home, in front of our fans. We’re fortunate to be hosting Cameroon, who are battling for first place with Cape Verde. So, our main goal is to finish this qualifying campaign on a positive note and, if possible, pick up a few more points. We want to give our supporters something to cheer about.”— Guillaume Moullec, Coach of Mauritius
Recent Meeting and Historical Context
In the reverse fixture, Cameroon secured a 3–0 win in Yaoundé, continuing their strong record in the group.
The Indomitable Lions have historically dominated the match-up. The last time Cameroon visited Mauritius was during the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign in October 2008, when they cruised to a 5–0 victory at the Stade Anjalay. Among the scorers that day was Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who netted his first senior international goal for Cameroon.
Cameroon, currently level on points with Cape Verde at the top of Group D, are expected to name a strong side as they look to take control of the group heading into the final round. For Mauritius, the emphasis will be on showing progress and pride in front of their home crowd.
The match will be played at the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex in Port Louis on 8 October 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 16:00 local time (13:00 GMT).
