Cameroon international Alexandra Takounda Engolo has joined Fatih Vatan Spor Kulübü, signing a one-year contract with the Turkish Women’s Super League side after leaving Beylerbeyi S.K.

Fatih Vatan Spor confirmed her arrival with a brief statement on social media:

“Welcome to Fatih Vatan Spor, Alexandra Takounda Engolo! We wish you many victories in the 2025-2026 season in the red-black jersey.”)

The 24-year-old forward began her career at Éclair Football Academy of Saa, a respected Cameroonian outfit whose honorary president is national team goalkeeper André Onana. Takounda’s rise through the academy ranks showcased her blend of strength, pace, and finishing ability, which soon earned her national recognition.

She represented the Indomitable Lionesses at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, featuring in Cameroon’s dramatic run to the Round of 16. Takounda was also part of the squad at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, where Cameroon reached the knockout stages before narrowly missing out on World Cup qualification.

After a spell in France with Olympique de Marseille Féminin, she moved to Turkey and impressed with Beylerbeyi S.K., prompting interest from several clubs before sealing a move to Fatih Vatan. Her tireless pressing and direct attacking play are expected to boost the Istanbul side’s ambitions this season.

Takounda’s transfer highlights the growing presence of African talent in the Turkish women’s league, as more players from the continent continue to make their mark across Europe.
