2024 WAFCONQ: Guinea win big as Congo and Namibia pick away victories

Guinea thrashed Mauritius 8-0 as the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifiers continued on Thursday.

Nency Kourouma opened the goal rush in the ninth minute before Maman Sata Fancinandouo doubled the lead five minutes before halftime.

Goals from Mamet Camara and Suzanne Daniel Lamah made it 4-0 while Kourouma and Fancinandouo scored their second goal of the encounter to increase the lead to six.

Aminata Camara and Nana Camara ended the rout.

Elsewhere, an own goal in the 89th minute handed a 1-0 away win for Congo over Guinea Bissau.

Namibia also picked an away win with a 3-2 win against Gambia.

Lovisa Mulanga, Ivonne Kooper, and Zenatha Coleman scored for the visitors while Fateh Kanteh converted for Gambia.

The Qualifiers continue on Friday with around nine games including Cameroon’s home game with Kenya.
