  • UMS of Loum is at risk of being relegated to the Littoral Regional championship
  • This comes after an incident where the team’s president disrupted the match day 11 game against Aigle Royal of Menoua, challenging an alleged controversial penalty
  • This two time league winners had already been relegated after losing to Avion by 2-3 on match day 10.

Two-time Cameroon top-flight champions, UMS of Loum are facing the grim prospect of relegation to the Littoral Regional League.

The looming demotion comes in the wake of a contentious incident involving the club’s president during a crucial playoff down match on Thursday May 2,2024 in Yaounde

On match day 11, against Aigle Royal of Menoua, Pierre Kwemo, the president of UMS of the club made the unprecedented decision to withdraw his players from the pitch during their 1-1 draw against Aigle Royal.

This action taken to dispute what was perceived as a dubious penalty awarded to the opposition in the 75th minute, with the scoreline locked at one goal apiece.

President Kwemo and his wives had been suspended for five years by the homologation and disciplinary commission of fecafoot back in July 2023 after they failed to honor their game against CFF Les champions du Garoua in the round of 32 of the Cameroon cup.

This disruption now places UMS of Loum’s fate in the hands of the homologation and disciplinary commission, which is expected to deliver a ruling on the matter.

The club had already been relegated to the second tier championship, following a 2-3 loss to Avion on match day 10.
