Out of the 24 teams heading to Cote d’Ivoire for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, only five have scored 100 or more goals in the history of the competition.

They are record winners; Egypt, host; Cote d’Ivoire, three-time champions; Nigeria, Cameroon, and Ghana.

The Pharaohs lead the pack of the top goal-scoring teams at the AFCON with a total number of 168 goals.

Cote d’Ivoire is second with 143 goals while the Super Eagles have scored an overall number of 137 goals and are tied in the third position alongside neighbours, Cameroon with the same number of goals (137).

Ghana’s Black Stars are the last team in the teams with 100 goals having found the back of the net 133 times.

Two teams; Tunisia and Algeria will soon join the club of 100 goals possibly in the course of AFCON 2023.

Algeria has scored 94 scored and needs to score six more to reach 100 while Tunisia with 99 goals has to score a goal to make it to the club of 100.

AFCON 2023 kicking off on January 13, 2024, is sure to witness some landmark events and scorelines in the history of teams.
