Isle of Hope Sports Academy (ISOHSA) have called for a full investigation after their captain, Arrey Jeffer Oduak, was headbutted by referee Bomba Martin during their abandoned MTN Elite 2 playdown match. The club confirmed less than 48 hours after the shocking incident that Oduak is responding to treatment but remains under close medical supervision.

In an official statement, ISOHSA said they have formally reported the matter to the football authorities and are awaiting guidance. The club stressed it is not taking legal action at this stage but expects the incident to be handled with the seriousness it deserves. “We expect a thorough investigation,” the statement read.

The academy also addressed wider frustrations, revealing that some investors have threatened to withdraw their support due to what the club describes as a pattern of “questionable and unfair officiating” dating back to the second half of the regular season. Despite this, ISOHSA insists they will not lose focus. “We remain committed to prioritising character and discipline in our players above all else,” the club added.

The match descended into chaos after what ISOHSA says was a string of biased decisions against them. The situation escalated when referee Martin headbutted the ISOHSA skipper, forcing the game to be abandoned. The club also alleges the official made “insensitive remarks regarding the club’s background and ethnic composition” , remarks they say run counter to national efforts to promote peace in the Anglophone regions.

ISOHSA’s response underlines their determination to see the matter resolved through official channels while continuing with their fixtures as planned. The football authorities now face calls to act swiftly to protect the integrity of the competition.
