Players and staff of PWD of Bamenda are currently without phones and other valuables, this after thieves break into the club’s dressing room during their game against Colombe of Dja on Sunday and stole most of their valuables.
According to varied reports, the players and their coaches had their phones, watches, wallets and cash stolen while they were on the pitch for the game that ended in a 1-1 draw.
A club statement just after the game saluted the players efforts to carry on with the game and earn a point in such challenging circumstances while informing the public on how they will deal with the incident.
“We regret to announce a theft incident in the dressing room during our recent Match against Colombe du Dja et Lobo at the Ngoa Ekelle stadium during the MTN ELITE one championship.
“While our team was engaged in the first half of the game, the dressing room allocated to our team was accessed, and personal belongings of our players and staff were stolen. The stolen items include mobile phones, Money, football boots, shoes, watches, and other valuable possessions.
“Despite this unfortunate incident, our players demonstrated remarkable dedication and sportsmanship, completing the match which ended in a 1-1 draw,” the club statement added before communicating their actions so far.
“Immediately after the game, our team management lodged a formal complaint with the local gendarmerie, and an investigation is currently underway to identify the perpetrators and recover the stolen items.”
It is not the first time this happens during a Cameroon League match as the valuables of players of other clubs have been stolen in the past and efforts was made to recover them.
