The first contingent of Cameroon’s delegation to face Mauritius on Wednesday in St. Louis — a match counting for Matchday 9 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers — has arrived in the Mauritian capital.
Team captain Vincent Aboubakar and the rest of the group departed Cameroon on Sunday morning and arrived Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Port Louis later that evening, immediately checking into Suffren and Marina Hotel upon arrival.
The squad is still expecting additional members of the playing staff, who are scheduled to arrive from Paris from Monday morning and on Tuesday.
Head coach Marc Brys has reiterated to the media that his players have put behind them the disappointment of their previous qualifier — a defeat away to Cape Verde — and are now fully focused on securing maximum points from their remaining two fixtures.
Cameroon heads into the final two rounds of the qualifiers trailing Cape Verde by five points. Their hopes of qualification will depend not only on their own results but also on Cape Verde’s performances in their upcoming matches.
Cape Verde faces a challenging away fixture against a resurgent Libyan side in Benghazi before hosting Eswatini in their final game.
15 players will arrive in Saint Louis on Monday while nine others will join camp on Tuesday:
– Danny Namaso

– Arthur Avom
– Nicolas Brice Moumi Ngamaleu

– Patrick Soko
– Georges Kévin Nkoudou
– Christian Bassogog
– Eric Maxim Choupo Moting

The team’s first training session is scheduled at 5pm this Monday at the National Sports complex in Saint Louis.
Meanwhile, Cameroon must win both of their remaining encounters to keep their dream of reaching an eighth FIFA World Cup alive.
