FIFA Club World Cup 2023: Al Ahly eliminates Auckland City (3-0)

In the opening match of the Club World Cup this Wednesday, February 1, 2023, the Egyptian Champions of Al Ahly eliminated Auckland City, the New Zealand club for this first 8th finals. The Egyptian club Al Ahly will face the American club Seattle Sounders of the Cameroonian Nouhou Tolo on Saturday in Tangier, who won his first CONCACAF Champions League in May 2022.

The Egyptians of Al Ahly clearly dominated the New Zealand outfit. After El Shahat’s opening goal, the Red Giant scored two more goals in the second half. Goals from Sherif and Percy Tau, the former Anderlecht striker. Al Ahly will therefore face Seattle following this 3-0 victory. The Egyptian goals were scored respectively in the 45+2 minute, 56th minute and 86th minute by El Shahat; Sherif and Percy Tau.

Al-Ahly, African vice-champion last season beaten by Wydad Casablanca, is the club that has won the most African Champions Leagues, with ten titles. Auckland City is also the most successful club in the Oceania Champions League, with ten crowns.

Saturday, February 4: Wydad AC (MOR) – Al-Hilal (KSA)
Seattle Sounders (USA) – Al-Ahly

Tuesday, February 7: Semi-final 1: Flamengo (BRA) – Wydad AC or Al-Hilal

Wednesday, February 8: Semi-final 2: Real Madrid (ESP) – Al-Ahly or Seattle Sounders

Saturday, February 11: 3rd place match and final
