Cameroonian FIFA referees ZE Mengata and Abdel Mefire paid a visit to participants of the ongoing UNIFFAC FIFA Referees’ Capacity-Building Course in Douala on Thursday, offering encouragement to officials preparing for future CAF and FIFA assignments.
The duo observed the morning practical session at the Bepanda Omnisport Stadium, where the 31 referees and assistant referees from the eight UNIFFAC member associations continued their physical and technical drills.
Abdel Mefire, who made history as the youngest referee at the last Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and later officiated the final of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), remained throughout the field session, interacting with participants and following the day’s activities.
Their presence provided added motivation to the officials attending the four-day programme, which is aimed at strengthening the physical fitness, technical ability and decision-making of both newly accredited and experienced FIFA referees from Central Africa.
Following the morning field exercises, participants moved to the classroom phase of the programme for theoretical and technical sessions as the capacity-building workshop continued in Douala.
The course, organised under the auspices of FIFA and UNIFFAC, concludes on Friday with participants expected to return to their respective member associations better equipped for upcoming CAF and FIFA competitions.
