Former U17 Lions of Cameroon forward Xavier Rodrigues Adang Mveng was the hero for MŠK Žilina as his lone strike sealed a 1–0 away victory over Senec, sending the Slovak giants into the fifth round of the Slovak Cup on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old former Oyili FC finisher found the net midway through the first half after a well-worked team move, showing great composure inside the box to slot home what proved to be the match-winner. Despite Senec’s late pressure, Žilina held firm to secure qualification.
Adang’s goal continues his fine run of form since joining the seven-time Slovak champions. Known for his energy, vision, and ability to break lines, he has gradually become a key figure in Žilina’s midfield this season—earning praise from both fans and coaching staff.
The victory also strengthens Žilina’s ambitions for silverware, with the club eyeing a deep run in the domestic cup while maintaining a strong position in the Niké Liga.
Adang, a product of Cameroonian football development structures, represents the new wave of young talents making their mark across European leagues. His consistency in Slovakia could soon attract attention from bigger clubs as he continues to grow in confidence and experience, especially with the successes recorded by Carlos Baleba and Aboubakar Nagida who were his team mates in the U17 national team.
