Players and the staff of Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) have arrived Douala in the early hours of this Thursday, May 17 ahead of their 2022/23 MTN Elite One championship relegation playoff match against 2017 Cameroon champions Eding Sport de la Lekie.
The fixture was confirmed last weekend by Faustin Mbida, the Secretary General of the Cameroon Professional Football Transitional Technical Committee (CTFP).
Eding was dragged into the playoff after Avion Academy escaped relegation upon winning an appeal against three points they lost after winning them from a litigation battle against UMS.
YOSA will face Eding Sport on Friday May 19 at the Bonamoussadi stadium. The loser of the tie will join Djiko FC, Renaissance FC, Dragon Yaounde and YAFOOT who have been relegated from the top-flight championship this season.
Eding were vice champions going into the current season, but Bonaventure Djonkep’s men struggle to keep that pace throughout the, leaving them in the end as one of two ninth-placed finishers condemned to fight for their status maintenance via the playoff.
