Cameroonian footballer Joachim Cesar Eloundou has died in a car crash in the Obala-Monatele highway on Wednesday, May 17 while returning from a cup of Cameroon game with his mates.
Eloundou died on the spot after their team bus crashed into the bush, summersault and left a number of players and staff wounded.
Eloundou’s club Ngoulebouk FC of Monatele had registered a 3-0 win against Mfomakap FC earlier in the day and were headed home before the unfortunate incident occurred.
The club and the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) organizing the tournament are yet to make an official outing per the situation but club sources have told kick442.com that Eloundou’s mortal remains have been deposited at the mortuary.
Tributes have been rained on the deceased since the story first hit the social media in the early evening of Wednesday.
Roadside accidents are a regular occurrence across Cameroon, but the frequency in the stretch of road this occurred is a little worrying and inviting of more from minister Jean Ernest Bibehe Ngale who heads the country’s transport ministry.
