37-year-old Argentina heavy weight boxer, Juan Manuel Obelar on Friday, December 23,2022 escaped from his long awaited fight against the Cameroonian WBF Champion Francis Tchoffo alias The Fighter at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex.
With the boxing encounter expected to debut at 12:00 am on Friday, the Argentina boxer abandoned the game and remained at his SOMATEL Hotel room. And wholeheartedly refuse, to respect the huge crowd that had turn out, to watch the scintillating Cameroonian boxer in action.
The embarrassment comes up, after a long period of preparation between Francis Tchoffo and his personal trainer Joel Narcam for a brilliant show in Yaounde.
Francis Tchoffo may be sanctioned by the International world boxing body, for putting his prestigious belt into play. And not being able to defend it in a battle, inconformity with the rules of the discipline.
All the Cameroonian boxer demands, is a written note of withdrawal, from his opponent addressed to the WBF authorities, indicating his resignation from the battle. So that Francis maybe considered to have throne a second world boxing champion record following his forfeit.
Speaking to the press after a long period of awaiting the Argentina boxer Juan Manuel Obelar, on the Multipurpose Sports Complex boxing ring, The Fighter had the following;
“I am very sorry for the embarrassment, that has taken place today. This was the least l could have expected from an opponent, after exchanging with him and letting him know, l was the one to be his opponent”.
“My entire staff and l had to displace ourselves from abroad to Cameroon, so that l could give my country the best of myself as a son of the native soil, ” He added.
Camerooon’s female boxer Mokam Jeane failed to grab a win, against the Saudi Arabian battler Sara Al Shahrani, considered to be the first-ever female professional Saudi boxer.
“I feel very bad today, not being able to make a deserving result. I am able to pay Juan Manuel Obelar, for us to battle, if necessary. I thank you all for leaving Douala, Bafoussam,Paris and Bordeaux just to come give me the best of support needed “. Francis Tchoffo concluded.
It is worthy of note that, apart from the boxing fiesta pitting Juan Manuel Obelar against Francis Tchoffo, there were equally some 12 other games that involved countries like Switzerland, Camerooon, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. At the end of which the most outstanding players were awarded meritorious medals and awards.
