Cameroon’s growing reputation in African football officiating has received another significant endorsement after three of its female match officials were selected by CAF for the WAFCON 2026 Preparation Course scheduled to take place from 25 to 30 June 2026.

The shortlist includes Ntagh Innocentia Njang and Aline Guimbang, who have been invited as referees, while Carine Atezambong has been selected among the assistant referees. Their inclusion places Cameroon among the countries with multiple representatives in the elite preparatory programme organized by the Confederation of African Football ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

For Carine Atezambong, the selection crowns an exceptional season on the continental stage. The Cameroonian official recently made headlines after serving as a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) during the CAF Confederation Cup final, further establishing herself as one of the continent’s most respected match officials.

The presence of Ntagh Innocentia Njang and Aline Guimbang among the selected referees is equally noteworthy. Their invitation reflects CAF’s confidence in their performances and highlights the progress made by Cameroonian women in elite officiating competitions across Africa.

The latest recognition comes at a time when Cameroonian referees continue to secure high-profile appointments across CAF competitions. In recent months, Noupoue Elvis served as an Assistant Referee in the CAF Champions League final, while Ngah Willy Stephane was appointed Fourth Official for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations final. Last year, Abdel Aziz Mefire officiated the CHAN final, underlining Cameroon’s growing footprint in African refereeing.

The selection of three Cameroonian officials for the WAFCON 2026 preparatory course is another strong indication that the country’s refereeing standards are gaining continental recognition. As preparations intensify for Africa’s premier women’s football tournament, Cameroon will be well represented by officials aiming to earn places among those who will officiate at the final competition.

Cameroon’s representatives at the WAFCON 2026 Preparation Course:

Aline Guimbang – Referee
Carine Atezambong – Assistant Referee

Their selection continues a remarkable period for Cameroonian officiating on the African stage.
