“We are satisfied with the draw” -Marina Ngo Esse

AS Fortuna of Mfou Ladies forward shared her delight after playing a pivotal role in her club’s 1-1 draw against Guinness Super League leaders Lekie Filles on Sunday in match day 12 of the 2022/23 championship.

The goalkeeper made a number of crucial interventions throughout the FECAFOOT Technical Center encounter – the standout being denying Tabe Brenda and Raissa Nnanga from point-blank range.

Her display ensured Christian Meka Kiki’s 55-minute goal was enough to secure a point for Mfou who conceded first, courtesy Tabe Brenda Ebika.

After the game, Ngo Esse spoke to reporters about the importance of the performance and the point.

“We are satisfied with the result. We are a young team in this championship and truly stopping the leader like Lekie isn’t easy. We fought, as we always say at Fortuna, it is war!!! Today it was war and we are happy to walk away with a point.”

The Cameroon international further revealed the point could be a springboard for more.

“It is our objective to finish in the top three or second or why not try to win the title. Who knows?”.

Though Ngo Esse dreams big, Fortuna are a massive seven points behind the leaders with nine games left this season.

The results means Lekie drop points for just the second time in 12 games this season. This leaves the Guinness Super League fans with an interesting scenario at the top of the table as Lekie’s lead on Éclair is trimmed to three points before Wednesday’s Guinnessico between the top two.

Ngo Esse has represented Cameroon at different categories but skippers Fortuna this season.
