Victoria United part ways with Guy Kamguia

Cameroon top-flight championship side Victoria United FC of Limbe has confirmed Guy Berlin Kamguia will no longer continue as the head coach of the first team.

The legendary club’s current management crew announced the decision on Kamguia:s departure on Thursday, February 29, with a statement confirming that they will not renew his contract barely 48 hours after a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to YOSA of Bamenda.

Coach Guy joined Victoria United FC in the build up to last season as replacement for coach Cyril Billong and helped them to the controversial triumph in the Elite Two championship and eventual promotion.

The one-year contract he had entered with the club’s management expired in December though they kept their working relationship until this Thursday.

A release signed by Wandja Stephanie, the club assistant Director confirmed the move.

“The management of Victoria United FC of Limbe has decided not to renew the contract of Kamguia Kenmongne Guy Berlin. The management appreciates your contribution and services rendered,” the release which also announced the new coach.

“Cedric Merlin Njikeu Nkwonyin has been appointed head,” The OPOPO release added.

Though Victoria United have had a chaotic season, they are hoping to make it to the playoffs provided they are handed for matches against Avion Academy, UMS of Loum and YOSA of Bamenda.

The club had a below average performance this season in the top-flight championship has left them on the 7th spot in the nine club first phase championship going into the final round of matches which they are exempted.
