  • Doctors in charge of the well-being of players during Guinness Super League matches staged a boycott last weekend
  • Sources say the medics are willing to return to the stadium on the condition that their dues be paid

Stakeholders of the Cameroon women’s Football top-flight championship have expressed their disgust about the lack of Reference medical doctors at match venues during recent Guinness Super League matches.

Éclair of Sa’a’s comeback 2-1 victory against Authentic Ladies FC in match day 13 of the championship on Wednesday, February 28 at the Omnisport Annex stadium was overshadowed by the absence of certified medical personnel to transport injured players out of the pitch.

Images of one the league management body’s staff carrying one of the Éclair players in his arms due to an injury have dominated debates on the social media.

This situation is a repeat of events between Louves Minprof and Ita Mbong in the 1-1 draw at the same venue over the weekend.

The Cameroon women’s professional football league (LFFC) had failed to announce the names of doctors for the games stating they were (En entente) loosely translated as ‘in waiting’.

Sources say a stand-off between the league organizers and the medical core provoked by unpaid dues has forced them to opt for a boycott until their situation is handled.

This is happening at a time when top-flight championship Referees have announced a strike to force payment of their dues while club presidents frown due to unpaid subvention and players do the same due to unpaid salaries.
