Former US Monastir of Tunisia forward Nizar Issaoui has been killed by burns of flames he raised and subjected himself to earlier this week as protest against what he term ‘police injustice’.
The father of four published a video on Facebook stating he was embarking on the protest because police falsely accused him of terrorism in the Haffouz Kairouan neighborhood in central Tunisia.
The family of the 35-year-old confirmed his demise this Friday, April 14, days after he suffered multiple burns.
Nizar last played in the third tier championship in his country during the 2021/22 season but was a free agent at the time of the incident.
His demise has divided public opinion but created sympathy across the board as he leaves a big industry to mourn him and a family to look after.
