Former Canon Yaounde forward, Michael Chekoua converted a 78 minute penalty to ensure Meizhou Hakka bag a point from their dramatic 2-2 draw away to Zhejiang Professional this Wednesday in match day seven of the Chinese Super League championship.
Meizhou of Cameroonian duo Chekoua and Jerome Ngo Mbeleki travelled to Zhejiang with hopes of bouncing back from their defeat last time out especially as their hosts had lost two games on the spin.
What looked to be an easy game on paper for the visitors who were without suspended Jerome got off to the worse possible start as they conceded twice in the opening 23 minutes and trailed 0-2 to the audatious hosts.
Goals from Yudong Wang and Qianglong Tao put Zhejiang comfortably on the driving seat, but there was much drama to come.
Xiangxin Wei converted the first of two penalties in the 64th minute before Chekoua added the second from the spot to level proceedings 12 minutes from time and held on to secure a precious point on the road.
The latest point takes the tally of coach Milan Ristic’s Meizhou to eight points from a possible 15 points this campaign.
The club will welcome Ngo Mbeleki back in their next League outing as he has completed his one game ban.
