The countdown has begun for the third edition of the Santa Youth Holiday Championship, with organisers unveiling plans for a competition that promises not only sporting excitement but also a lasting impact on communities across Santa Subdivision.

Set to kick off on 12 July 2026, this year’s tournament will be staged under the theme “Impacting the Community”. Organisers say the competition is designed to use sport as a tool for unity and social transformation.

One of the major highlights of the 2026 edition is the commitment by donor Chi Chinda Chido Mitterand Francois to finance the construction of two water boreholes for communities within Santa Subdivision. The initiative is expected to improve access to potable water for residents while leaving a tangible legacy beyond football.

Chido is a well-known sports administrator in Cameroon and currently serves as the president of Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) of Bamenda, one of the country’s most prominent football clubs. He has been an outspoken figure in Cameroonian football affairs and has consistently advocated for fairness and professionalism within the domestic game.

In another innovation, the championship will introduce women’s football for the first time, providing female athletes in Santa with a platform to showcase their talents. Organisers have also announced a total prize purse of 2.5 million FCFA, aimed at increasing competitiveness and rewarding excellence.

Registration fees have been fixed at 30,000 FCFA for men’s football teams, 20,000 FCFA for women’s football teams, and 10,000 FCFA for handball teams for both boys and girls.

The organisers have extended an invitation to teams from all villages within Santa Subdivision to participate in the competition, which has grown steadily since its inception and continues to promote youth empowerment through sport.

With the slogan “Let’s Impact the Community Together – Unity, Sport, Impact,” the 2026 Santa Youth Holiday Championship hopes to unite communities while delivering benefits that extend far beyond the playing field.
