European giants Real Madrid CF touched down in Rabat for their 2022 FIFA Club World Cup fixture against record side Al Ahly of Cairo.

The Los Blancos Merengue were warmly received in Rabat this Monday evening as they jet into the country for their club World Cup commitment though with a depleted squad.

The European champions are without key men Karim Benzema, Eder Militao, Thibaut Courtois, Ferland Mendy, Eden Hazard, and Lucas Vazquez all recovering from varied injuries.

Carlo Ancelotti has 22 players at his disposal at the Conrad Arzana Hotel who are hoping to win the eighth FIFA Club World Cup.

They are expected to enter the competition in the semi-final against Al Ahly this Wednesday.

Al Ahly eliminated Auckland City and Seattle Sounders to reach this stage of the competition.

The Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium will host the clash between Africa’s most celebrated clubs Al Ahly and European record side Real Madrid.

The other semi-final sees Flamengo and Al Hilal play each other. These are possible opponents in Saturday’s final (8pm CET) or in the match for third and fourth place (4:30pm CET), depending on the result.

The Royal Moroccan Football family is staging a wonderful Club World Cup as it been in the previous edition.

Successes in such events only goes a long way to enhance Morocco’s chances of hosting a successful AFCON tournament in 2025.
