Raja up motivation ahead of Ahly clash

Moroccan giants Raja Athletic Club of Casablanca have told their players they stand to gain more if they beat Al Ahly SC this weekend in the second-leg quarter-final of the 2022/23 CAF Champions League.

Despite losing 2-0 in the reversed fixture last weekend in Cairo, Raja management is pushing the players to give more at home this weekend as they have told their staff their winning bonus have been increased from $7895 to $10,918 if they beat Al Ahly and secure qualification to the semi-final.

The increase financial motivation is expected to cause the players to put in more and get a result against last season’s runners-up in the competition.

Raja needs a 2-0 win to force the tie into extra time and more or win by more than two goal margin if Al Ahly succeeds to score in Casablanca.

Coach Mondher Kebaier’s charges are keen on continuing their persuit of a first Champions League title since 1999 and their fourth in all, but have the daunting task of defeating Al Ahly for just the third time in this season’s competition.

The Mohammed V stadium in Casablanca, Morocco will host the crunch clash this Saturday, April 29, at 9PM.
