PWD Bamenda have recorded their first victory of the 2026/2027 MTN Elite One season after defeating Apejes of Mfou 2-0 at the Bamenda Proximity Stadium on Matchday Four this Sunday.
The Abakwa Boys made a dream start in front of their home supporters, taking the lead just two minutes into the encounter through Bongaman, who finished off an assist from Ngu Maxwell to give PWD an early advantage.
Despite their early breakthrough, PWD had to remain patient and disciplined as they searched for a second goal to put the contest beyond Apejes. That moment finally arrived in the 84th minute when Patrick Clovert Fongang doubled the hosts’ advantage, converting an assist from Ezikiel Che to seal all three points.
The victory will come as a major relief to head coach Tama Wango, whose patience and continued work with the squad have finally yielded the desired result. After waiting through the opening three matchdays for their first win, the Bamenda outfit can now celebrate a breakthrough in front of their supporters.
Beyond the three points, the clean sheet and two-goal margin will also provide a welcome confidence boost for the Abakwa Boys as they look to build momentum and make their mark in the new campaign.
For Tama Wango and his players, the wait is finally over. PWD Bamenda have their first win of the season, and they will hope this is the beginning of a much-needed revival.
