Fehnabahce’s Nigerian defender Bright Osayi-Samuel could be slammed a 10-match ban for his role in the post-match violence that followed a Turkish Super Lig game against Trabzonspor.

Osayi downed two hooligans who entered the field to attack his team mates after the 2-4 defeat and was initially praised for his intervention but he appears to be in trouble now.

A dozen fans were arrested during the crowd trouble and they will be prosecuted.

According to the rules and regulations of the Turkish football association related to violent conduct, the AFCON 2023 silver medalist could ban for upto ten matches.

Osayi-Samuel, who is expected Wednesday to join the Super Eagles in Morocco for friendlies against Ghana and Mali could be in trouble once he returns to Turkey.

He will plead self-defense to avoid punishment. A disciplinary commission meeting fixed for April 2 will rule on the incident.

In the meantime, his Turkish club Fenerbache have said they will consider withdrawing from the league.

The Istanbul giants are second seeded in the current Turkish Super League placings, two points behind leaders and city rivals Galatasaray.
