Morocco advanced to the knockout stage of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup after beating Colombia 1-0 at Perth Rectangular Stadium.

Their victory combined with two-time world champions, Germany’s 1-1 draw against South Korea has allowed Reynald Pedros’ team to secure their spot in the round of 16.

Anissa Lahmari was the hero for Morocco as she bundled the ball home from close range after Ghizlane Chebbak saw her penalty saved.

Khadija Errmichi was equally important in making vital saves in the second half to see out a famous result.

Morocco will now face off against 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup host, France in Adelaide on August 8.

After topping Group H, Colombia will play Jamaica in their round-of-16 clash on August 8 in Melbourne.
