Struggling Chinese Super League side Meizhou Hakka have secured the return of forgetten Cameroonian forward John Mary Honi Uzuegbunam on deal till the end of the current season.
The club gave the player a contract this week, after weeks of observation. The switch from Turkish outfit Manisa marks his return to the Chinese Super League were he made a name for himself in the past.
At Manisa, John made 12 appearances this season and scored twice for the club in a relationship that never showed since of success at any point in time.
John Spent the 2018/19 seasons at Hakka and scored 36 goals in 43 appearances to earn a deserved move to Shenzhen.
The 31-year-old is expected to add value to the Hakka goal scorers department for the rest of the current season, especially as that area has been their undoing.
The globetrotting football was born in Nigeria and spent the best part of his life on the move – representing clubs like AS Fortuna, Buririam, Krabi, BCC, Vojvodina Al Shabab, Avispa Fukuoka amongst others.
Though he is not starting, the 31-year-old has made his second debut for Hakka in front of their home crowd this Sunday as they test their might against fancied Henan Songshan Longmen in a fixture counting for match day 17 of the Chinese Super League.
John who counts one cap for Cameroon, against Cote d’Ivoire came on for Conraad Tyrone in his second debut for the club.
At the time of this report Haka was down by a 0-1 and a man less than their opponents due to the sending off of Junjian Liao.
