Japan Maul Cameroon 3-0 in South Ladies Cup opener

Momoko Tanikawa, Moka Hiwatari, Yuuka Kurimoto were on target on Tuesday evening at the Parc de Sports Avignon as Japan U19 dispatched Cameroon U20 3-0 in the opening fixture for both nations in the 2023 South Ladies Cup.

Japan demonstrated class in all aspects of the game that was mostly played in Cameron’s half and deservedly bagged all three points in an afternoon Brenda Tabe and co couldn’t fell short of expectations.

Tanikawa set the ball rolling for Japan when she scored the opener after 39 minutes of dominance from the young Asian Ladies.

Tanikawa beat Cathy Biya from close range, concluding another exciting passage of play for the Japanese.

Hiwatari doubled the advantage ten minutes into the second segment before substitute Yuuka added a third to seal the comfortable victory for coach Michihisa Kano’s team.

The defeat for Cameroon’s coach Ndoumou Mike’s team 48 hours after arriving France leaves them with games against France on Friday and Panama on Sunday as options to get points from the invitational tournament.

The four-nations event scheduled will produce the next winner of the competition the USA won last year.

The South Ladies Cup is in it’s fourth edition and is aimed at provided a platform through which young players case showcase their know-how.
