Gabriel Haman, the head coach of Cotonsport of Garoua is confident his side will take inspiration from the second-half performance against Mamelodi Sundowns and hit the ground running during their second CAF Champions League game of the season against Al Hilal SC this Friday.

Reflecting on the 1-3 defeat against Sundowns last week, and ahead of the big game against the Sudanese giants, coach Haman gave credit to his side second-half performance last time out.

“We have players who haven’t played in this competition. The players thought it was like the CAF Confederation cup, but they are just finding out that it is different. We have learned from out mistakes. From the second half against Downs, we did a lot of things right and it was visible. I expect a strong response to that defeat tomorrow.”

Haman explained what went wrong in that famous first game, while expecting how the ploy against Hilal is going.

“We made errors of debutants due to fear from some of our players.

“We have watched videos of Hilal against Ahly. The team is made up of players mostly of the Sudanese national team,” the trainer who inspired Coton to their 17th title win last season explained.

He also revealed what he thoughts are about Hilal;

“Hilal is a good side and we expect a tough game. But we play for victory and work to compensate for our first loss because we want to remain in the competition and fight to qualify for next round.

Successes at this stage of the competition are sometimes down to the input of the fans. Haman addressed a message to the supporters of Cotonsport.

“We understand the supporters anger and their dissatisfaction with the team’s last result, but we need their support. We are confident that the fans will be present to support us tomorrow.
