Nigeria’s senior men’s national basketball team ended Ivory Coast’s seven-match unbeaten run with a 72-63 win over its West African rivals as the third window of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers dunked off in Luanda.
A home-based team won three of four quarters to revive its World Cup hopes.
It won the first, third, and fourth quarters, losing the second quarter 16-15, 14-19, 23-14, and 19-15.
D’Tigers moved to the third position in Group E with 12 points, three points behind Ivory Coast and the same points as Angola.
The top two teams from the group will qualify for the FIBA World Cup with the third tea waiting for its fate as the best third-placed team.
Nigeria will face Guinea on February 25 before meeting Angola a day after.
