As we reported before the start of the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) Cotonsport of Garoua midfielder Kaiba Djawal, 19, has agreed to switch to Europe.
Cotonsport’s sources have confirmed the player will join Austrian Bundesliga side SCR Altach as also reported by Bepanda Infos. The Cotonites officials added the player will switch on a three-year deal from June 2023.
Per our sources the player will play in the group stages of the CAF Champions League this season and join just after.
Immediately after the competition Kaiba will fly to Europe to complete additional formalities for the switch immediately after the end of Cotonsport’s stay in the Champions League.
Kaiba was part of the Cameroon team at the CHAN 2022 tournament and played all two matches in the group stages.
Noted for his progressive moments, efficient long range passing and an eye for goal, Kaiba scored 15 goals, 14 assists in 57 matches in the past two seasons for club and country. In fact, the equalizing goal he scored for the Indomitable Lions against Jamaica in November 2022 made him the first player in World football to score for four categories of a country’s teams within 12 months.
Kaiba who is considered by many as Cameroon’s ‘new Jean II Makoun’ given he possesses lots of the qualities of the former Lyon and Aston Villa midfielder.
His possible departure means Cotonsport have transfered three key players in the past month.
Forward Marou Souaibou has joined Orlando Pirates while Felix Oukine – another midfielder moved to Belgian third-tier side Raal last week.
