French coach Sébastien Migné has been appointed as the new head coach of the Gabon national football team, taking over the Panthers after leaving his role with Haiti following the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His departure from Haiti was confirmed on Tuesday after he guided the Caribbean nation to its first World Cup appearance since 1974.

Migné arrives in Libreville with extensive experience in African football. The 53-year-old has previously coached the national teams of Congo, Kenya, and Equatorial Guinea, while also serving as assistant coach of the Cameroon national team under Rigobert Song between 2022 and 2024.

His appointment marks a new chapter for Gabon as the Panthers prepare for upcoming international competitions, including the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Gabonese Football Federation will be hoping Migné can replicate the success he enjoyed with Haiti, where he masterminded the country’s historic return to the FIFA World Cup after a 52-year absence before stepping down by mutual agreement after the tournament.

For Migné, the move represents another return to African football, a continent where he has built much of his coaching career and earned a reputation for developing competitive national teams. He now faces the task of guiding a talented Gabon squad back among Africa’s leading football nations.
