Canal+ Cameroon has unveiled a series of affordable subscription, equipment and content offers as it begins a new season, while reinforcing its commitment to education and expanding its sports portfolio.

The pay-TV operator made the announcement during a press conference with local media in Douala, outlining a strategy built around customer loyalty, accessibility and social impact as families prepare for the new school year.

At the heart of the campaign are incentives designed to reward existing subscribers while making it easier for new customers to join the Canal+ family.

Loyal customers rewarded

Canal+ is offering existing subscribers 30 days of bonus channels free of charge when they renew their current package.

Commercial Director Justine Diane said the promotion, which began on September 1, is also available to customers whose subscriptions have been inactive for some time.

“For this back-to-school season, we already have two offers for our loyal Canal+ subscribers. They simply need to renew their subscription and receive 30 days of bonus channels free of charge,” Diane explained.

She added that customers who have been away from the service because of holidays, travel or other circumstances can also benefit by simply reactivating their usual package.

The company is simultaneously targeting households that have yet to subscribe, with a reduced entry cost during the back-to-school period.

New customers can acquire a decoder for FCFA 5,000, starting with the Access package, while installation is offered.

According to Diane, this means a household can join Canal+ with FCFA 10,000.

Equipment replacement cut to FCFA 1,000

The affordability drive also extends to after-sales services.

Canal+ has reduced the cost of replacement equipment for existing subscribers, with accessories now available for FCFA 1,000 at authorised Canal+ points of sale.

The offer covers items including remote controls, power supply units and defective decoders, according to the company.

The measure is aimed at reducing the financial burden on subscribers who need to replace faulty or damaged equipment.

More sports, more than football

While football remains a major attraction for Canal+, the broadcaster says its sports offering will continue to expand beyond the traditional disciplines.

Communication Director Djeutcheu Claude highlighted the arrival of new competitions, including padel, a sport that has rapidly grown in popularity internationally.

“Sport is what gives the Canal+ brand its strength,” Djeutcheu said, stressing that the objective is to strengthen the broadcaster’s presence across the different sporting disciplines followed by its audience.

Football fans, meanwhile, can expect expanded European competition coverage.

Djeutcheu confirmed that Canal+ will broadcast the UEFA Champions League, alongside the Europa League and Conference League, giving subscribers access to the continent’s three major UEFA club competitions.

Education joins the entertainment offer

Beyond television and sport, Canal+ used the event to underline its growing focus on education.

The company highlighted its partnership with Education Nomad, a platform designed to provide educational resources to learners through a more mobile and accessible format.

Group Director General Christelle Soub said the partnership was partly driven by feedback from Canal+ subscribers seeking greater access to educational resources.

“The group’s intention in proposing this partnership with the platform was to respond to a request from our subscribers — to provide a more mobile solution,” Soub explained.

The platform is intended to serve learners across different levels, from primary and secondary education through to university, providing educational resources that can be accessed beyond the traditional classroom environment.

A broader Canal+ proposition

The new season therefore represents an effort by Canal+ Cameroon to broaden its proposition beyond television entertainment.

From discounted subscriptions and cheaper equipment replacements to an expanded sports catalogue and educational initiatives, the company says it wants to become a more accessible part of customers’ daily lives.

As families return to school and households adjust to the demands of a new academic year, Canal+ is betting that affordability, loyalty rewards, sport and education can strengthen its relationship with Cameroonian subscribers.

The message from Canal+ Cameroon is clear: the new season is not only about what viewers watch on their screens, but also about making the service more accessible and useful in their everyday lives.
