Cameroon will be represented by referees Willy Ngah and Vincent Nkemazem at the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, after FIFA’s Referees Committee selected the officials who will handle matches at the tournament.
Ngah has been appointed as part of one of CAF’s four selected refereeing trios, alongside Congolese assistant referee Guylain Ngila Bongele and Nkemazem Vincent of Cameroon. The trio will form part of the 27 officiating teams selected from all six FIFA confederations for the global youth tournament.
For Nkemazem, the appointment represents another major opportunity on the international stage. The Cameroonian official will work alongside Ngah and Bongele as FIFA prepares to bring together some of the world’s leading young players in Qatar.
The CAF contingent also includes Nigerian referee Kasimu Abdulsalam, Moroccan Mohamed El Baroudi and Senegalese Elhadji Amadou Sy, highlighting the breadth of African representation at the tournament.
The 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup will take place in Qatar from 19 November to 16 December 2026, bringing together the next generation of international football talent.
The tournament will also have a wider significance for the selected officials, with the competition providing an important platform for referees as FIFA continues the process of identifying and developing officials for future major tournaments.
Women referees will also feature in the men’s U-17 World Cup, with Spain’s Olatz Rivera Olmedo and Brazil’s Daiane Muniz selected alongside their respective assistant referees. Their participation comes less than a year before the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
For Cameroon, the selection of Ngah and Nkemazem further strengthens the country’s presence among Africa’s international match officials, with the duo now set to operate on one of FIFA’s biggest youth football stages.
