Cotonsport of Garoua will be without suspended forward Wassou Goue Patient when the host Al Ahly of Cairo next Friday in Match Day five of the 2022/23 CAF Champions League at the Roumde Adjia Stadium.

Wassou,18, was booked for the second time in the competition on Tuesday during Coton’s 0-2 defeat to Al Hilal at the Olympic stadium in Khartoum.

The latest booking added to the previous yellow against the same opponent in the reversed fixture in Garoua issued him after he took off his jersey upon putting Cotonsport ahead.

The competition’s rules provides for a one match suspension for any player that accumulates two bookings. It is for this that Kaiba Djawal missed the fourth group game in Khartoum against Al Hilal.

Wassou has been Coton’s main forward in this season’s competition. The former Champion Club teenager has scored his club’s two goals in the four group matches. He was the scorer against Al Hilal and Mamelodi Sundowns at home. He has scored twice in the four group games and thrice in eight matches from the preliminaries.

The combination of Wassou and Kaiba have been at the center of the goals scored by Coton since the start of the group stage. The latter provided the assist for all two goals scored by the former but unfortunately their club will miss the combo for two games.

Group B bottom side Cotonsport of Garoua will host Al Ahly on March 17 in Garoua. The Red Devils need maximum points from the fixture to keep their quarter-final hopes alive while the home side are playing for pride as they are already eliminated from the race to reach the quarter-final.
