The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has expressed disappointment regarding instances of age cheating among some U15 players selected from various provinces for the upcoming U15 National Team, set to compete in the Double Confrontation U15 tournament organized by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.

FAZ President Andrew Kamanga emphasized that the national team trials conducted across all 10 provinces aimed to identify young talents born no later than 2009, adhering strictly to the age requirements for the tournament.

“It was important to stress to the provinces that we were not looking for youthful looking talents but those that are of the right age. We were disappointed in some cases where some players that were sent for the national selection did not respect or meet the age specification,” he said.

Kamanga reiterated FAZ’s zero-tolerance stance on age cheating, underlining the organization’s commitment to maintaining fairness and transparency in the sport.

Furthermore, he pointed to the success stories of past U15 projects, citing players like Miguel Chaiwa, Joseph Sabobo Banda, Rickson Ng’ambi, and Moses Mulenga, as evidence of FAZ’s dedication to nurturing young talent.

Meanwhile, the U15 Boys’ National Team is currently undergoing intensive preparations in camp for the upcoming tournament, scheduled to take place from 18th to 26th March in Morocco.
