Diudonne Onega gets brace as ISOHSA edge Options Sports in ‘baptism’ of the Limbe Omnisport stadium

A double from speedy forward Diudonne Onega added to goals from Ashu Kingsley and Ashu Brice which inspired a 4-3 victory for Isle of Hope Sports Academy (ISOHSA) against Options Sports Academy in an exciting third round Cup of Cameroon game on Tuesday in Limbe.

The 4-3 thriller at the Limbe Omnisport stadium will go down as one of the best games ever played at the Ngeme jewel as it left the hundred of fans that turned out talking the level of football in the Southwest Region till after the full-time whistle.

ISOHSA made a strong start into the encounter. Coach Nlend Aime’s team raced into a three-goal lead lead in the opening 31 minutes, but breakdown – allowing their city rivals back into the game.

Onega put ISOHSA ahead just three minutes into the contest, driving home a fine cross from Tiku Albert.

For the second game running Ashu Kingsley notched home a corner from Ashu Brice before the later found back of the net with a range shot that made it 3-0.

ISOHSA looked to be cruising into the regional finals and third win in three games before Options were handed a life line.

The turning point of the game came in the 38th minute when Referee Njoni Limunga pointed to the spot for an Options Sports penalty following challenge for the ball by Ashu Cerezo.

Gobara took the penalty and beat Ashu Kelvin on goal for ISOHSA to make it 3-1.

Four minutes after the recess Options Sports reduced the deficit to 2-3 as they took control of the game.

Though coach Nlend made a number of changes including bringing on Zambo Abdoulaye in place of Afafa Nlend, Options Sports pushed and got their equalizer with 28 minutes left on the clock.

Onega turned out to be the hero of the day as he completed his brace four minutes from time after he picked a great ball into the right channel, beat two before putting it into the back of the net with the help of Zambo.

The game finished 4-3 in favour of ISOHSA who booked a spot in Sunday’s final round preliminaries alongside Nkamanyi FI, Istanbul FA and NQSA.
