A Nigeria delegation from the pioneer Nigeria Football Supporters club!(NFSC) who recently visited Brazil late February, 2023 was received by the vice president of the Famous Brazilian club side, Santos Fc, Jose Carlos de Oliveira.
The Nigeria group was headed by Rev Samuel Ikpea, who is the National Chairman of the respected Nigeria Football Supporters club ( NFSC)
The Purpose of the Ikpea led Group visit to Brazil , was to further strengthen the relationship between the parties and move forward with the possible joint projects, as a result of Santos FC’s visit to Nigeria in November 2022.
The entourage from Nigeria, was invited to watch the derby between Santos Fc and Corinthians Fc, as well as the memorial Conquests, as they were welcomed by Maximino Pedro, Santos FC representative in Africa.
In his words, chairman of the Nigeria Football Supporters club, Rev Samuel Ikpea, stated that the visit to Brazil was a wonderful experience.
” This is not my first time in Brazil, but my first visit to Vila Belmiro, it is indeed a wonderful experience because am seeing things I never imagined.
“We went to the museum and were impressed with what we saw there, we still had the opportunity to watch two top teams in Brazil, Santos Fc and Corinthians, Ikpea posited.
On his part, the vice President of Santos Fc stated that Santos Fc was very well received by the Nigeria Football Supporters club( NFSC) in Nigeria and had to returned all that affection with the visit, adding that they use the opportunity to talk about possible actions both parties can do together.
Santos Fc was invited by the Nigeria Football Supporters club( NFSC) after the debut event of the club new kits , which took place in September 2022 in Villa Belmiro, Brazil and is part of Santos do mundo Campaign which aims to internationalise the brand and promote a series of actions abroad about the unique Story of the club around the world.
It would be recalled, that Santos Fc promoted a historic game in Benin city, to commemorate the 53rd anniversary of the game that stopped the civil war on February 4, 1969 as Santos Fc which had King Pele defeat the then Midwest team 2-1 inside Ogbe Stadium, with goals from Edu and Toninho Guerreiro.
During the Santos FC visit to Benin city last year, two teams were formed, one with players from Bendel Insurance FC, who wore the third kit of Santos Fc, and a selected team who wore the white jerseys of Santos Fc, the friendly match was organised by the Edo state Football Association in partnership with the Nigeria Football Supporters club, with Edu and Manuel Maria taking the ceremonial kick off, just as Edo state Deputy Governor, RT Honourable comrade Philip Shaibu playing in the colours of Santos FC third kit for a couple of minutes in the highly entertaining game at the remodeled Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, in Benin city.
