The Mediterranean Knights of Libya are preparing for a decisive single-leg clash against Palestine, with qualification for the FIFA-sanctioned Arab Cup finals in Qatar at stake.
Libyan football officials are prioritising the national team’s preparations for the crucial Arab Cup playoff match on November 26th in Doha. This tournament, which has received official approval from FIFA, holds significant value for the nation’s international standing.
Under the guidance of head coach Aliou Cissé—the AFCON-winning manager—the Libyan squad is set to gather for an intensive training camp in Morocco in the first week of November. Cissé plans to call upon all available stars for the camp, which includes a confirmed friendly against the Moroccan national team, with a second match yet to be finalised.
The decisive fixture against a strong, improving Palestinian side is viewed as a must-win to secure a place in the prestigious group stage of the competition, which will see its next three editions hosted by Qatar.
Continental club scene:
Despite the focus on the national team, Libya’s top clubs remain active. League champions Al-Ahly Tripoli face Morocco’s RS Berkane in the CAF Champions League playoff, while Al-Ittihad is locked in a tight battle against Egypt’s Al-Masry Al-Borsaidi in the CAF Confederation Cup. Both ties are pivotal for the Libyan presence in African competition.
