Cameroon’s U17 women’s national team suffered their second consecutive defeat in pre-World Cup friendlies, narrowly losing 3–2 to Morocco on Friday night in Kenitra.
After falling 4–1 to China earlier in the training camp, the Lionesses once again found themselves on the back foot—this time against their North African hosts.
Morocco went into half-time with a commanding 2–0 lead, but Cameroon rallied in the second half, showing glimpses of the “hemle” spirit—a local term for courage and tenacity.
Tiwa Lys Fraîche converted a penalty early in the second half to reduce the deficit, though Morocco quickly restored their two-goal cushion. Substitute Tazanou Ange scored late to bring the score to 3–2, but the Lionesses were unable to find an equaliser before the final whistle.
Tough Start for New Coaching Setup
The twin defeats mark a challenging start for Cameroon’s new technical team, which recently took over from former head coach Joseph Ndoko. Ndoko left the role unbeaten in 15 matches, and expectations are high as the team heads into the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.
Despite the results, Cameroon’s fighting spirit and individual flashes of talent offer hope ahead of the global tournament.
Final Warm-Up Match vs Ecuador
