Cameroon champions Colombe Sportive du Dja et Lobo are keeping their composure ahead of a crucial CAF Champions League showdown with MC Alger this Sunday, 19 October, at the Stade Omnisport de Yaoundé.

With the weight of national expectations on their shoulders, the Southerners are not short on belief. Their leader in attack, Léandre Tawamba, has set the tone for the camp — calm, determined, and focused on taking control of the tie from the first leg.

“The goal is simple — take the advantage at home,” Tawamba told Evra Géraud in an interview gathered by kick442.com. “We’ve had time to adjust things. The group is in great shape, the atmosphere is positive, and we’re attacking this match with enthusiasm. We know what’s at stake.”

Quiet confidence in the Colombe camp

Despite facing one of North Africa’s most experienced clubs, Colombe du Sud are showing no signs of nervousness. The side from the Dja and Lobo region used the recent break to polish their game plan and improve conditioning, fully aware that this is their chance to write a new chapter in their history.

“We know MCA have more match rhythm,” Tawamba admitted. “They’ve already played several league games, but football is not only about rhythm — it’s also about mentality. We’ve worked hard to be ready both physically and mentally. It’s a different competition, but the truth of the pitch remains the same.”

Lessons from Dakar still alive

Colombe’s progress to this round came through character and belief. Their triumph over Senegalese side ASC Jaraaf in the previous round reminded the continent that Cameroon’s champions are not to be underestimated.

“No one expected us to beat Jaraaf,” the striker recalled. “We were the outsiders, but we believed. We fought for our colours, for the technical staff, and for our supporters. The fear factor doesn’t exist for us. Determination always outweighs reputation.”

That mentality, he insists, will again be key when facing MCA’s experience and physicality.

Tactical edges and mental calm

Tawamba also noted a potential psychological boost ahead of the return leg in Algeria.

“The fact that the second leg will be played behind closed doors is an advantage,” he observed. “It reduces some of the pressure. Algiers is a tough place to play, but without their fans, it’s a different atmosphere.”

A united team chasing history

Colombe’s strength lies in its unity and the steady leadership within the dressing room. The players understand that continental success begins with discipline and focus — and that Sunday’s match could define their season.

“We just need to stay disciplined and play our football,” Tawamba concluded. “It’s the Champions League — the stage where you prove yourself. We’re ready to take flight.”

Colombe du Sud step onto the pitch this weekend not just to compete, but to convince — with their supporters in Yaoundé hoping to witness the beginning of another great African story.
