  • Bamboutos FC recorded their fourth win in six games this season
  • The Mangwa Boys edged Aigle Royal 3-1 to keep themselves within touching distance of Dynamo
  • The Mangwa Boys are the most offensive club in the championship with 12 goals to it credit so far

Bamboutos FC of Mbouda emerged edged Aigle Royal of Menoua by 3-1 in an entertaining West Regional derby on Sunday at the Mbouda Municipal stadium.

Bill Diboto, Serge Koupit and Fon Katche Boris were the scorers as the Mangwa Boys continued their brilliant start to the 2023/24 season despite Amine Hiver scoring his second of the season for Aigle.

The Mangwa Boys entered the contest high in confidence having picked up three wins in their opening five games of the season. It was a sharp contrast for winless Aigle Royal that had only picked up two points this season.

The hosts guided by Ghanaian coach Asare Bediako took the game to their visitors, dominating from kick-off to ensure they add to their points tally so far.

Diboto put the hosts ahead after just eight minutes, capitalizing from a brilliant team effort to make it 1-0.

Coach Olivier Nankam’s Aigle Royal didn’t chicken out after conceding. In response to their thousands of fans in the stands, El Pacha as they are fondly called pushed for the equalizer until they were rewarded.

Chadian international Amine Hiver leveled matters seven minutes upon resumption, but hopes of getting something from the game was quickly squashed.

Koupit converted a deserved penalty to restore the Mangwa Boys’ advantage before Kache completed scoring with the third for the reigning vice champions.

The third goal of the game was the third for Katche this term and helped Bamboutos FC seal maximum points for the fourth game this season.

The 3-1 win takes the points tally to 12 from a possible 18 for the side that only lost to PWD of Bamenda and Union Sportive of Douala this season.

Bamboutos FC with 12 points maintains their second position on the log while Aigle Royal remains rock bottom with just two points from a possible 18.

The Mangwa Boys have struggling Canon Yaoundé as their next customer while Aigle Royal has a November 12 appointment with PWD of Bamenda that held Union Sportive of Douala to a 1-1 draw on Sunday, November 5.
