Agbor Ernest Ako is off to a winning start in his role as head coach of Astre of Douala aka Brazilians of Bepanda. The coach guided his side to a 2-1 victory against visiting Aigle Royal of Menoua on Wednesday at the Bepanda Omnisport stadium in Douala.

Jules Armand Kooh and Christian Bedibeleg scored in each half to reduce Amine Hiver’s debut goal for Aigle Royal to a mere consultation.

Hoping for a better start of the season this time around, the Brazilians of Bepanda lined up with their best possible starting XI led by midfield metronome, Tchatchoua Leger.

Though Olivier Nankam and his visiting Aigle team took the game to his former employer, his players squandered gilt-edge chances in the opening moments and were made to pay.

Armand Kooh found the back of the Aigle net off a well-worked corner after 16 minutes. The lead was against the run of play as Aigle was the better side in the last five minutes before they conceded.

It only took give minutes for Chadian forward Amine Hiver to gallop into space in the box and put the ball into the Astres net to make it 1-1.

Both sides had chances to lead but failed to leaving it level at the break.

However, Bedibeleg restored the advantage for the host after 66 minutes. The full-back bundled home a poor clearance to reward Astres for their early dance.

The goal pushed Aigle to go more to find the equalizer but it wasn’t to be even after the change in personel.

Though in near darkness due to lack of electricity contest finished 2-1 to make it three wins for Astres in past three meetings in the MTN Elite One championship.

Coach Agbor couldn’t ask for more on his return on the dugout of a Douala-based outfit after all those years of glory at Union Sportive of Douala.

In the other fixture, star-studded Dynamo were held to a goalless draw against Fortuna.
