  • Noh Nafeng Yvan scored a belter to ensure the men from Mfou took a point from the derby against Fauve Azur Elite in Olembe
  • APEJES picked their third point of the season from three draws so far
  • Fauve Azur Elite have recorded four points in their last two games

Deric Kameni scored and was sent off on Wednesday as 10-man Fauve Azur Elite conceded a late goal scored by Noh Nafeng Yvan to fetch their fourth point of the season while APEJES extended their winless run to four games.

APEJES of Mfou fought back to earn another draw after conceding first against 10-man Fauve Azur in the tight match day four derby of the 2023/24 MTN Elite One championship.

The center region derby played at the Olembe Annex stadium in the presence of just under a thousand of fans of both sides was graced by goals from Deric Kameni of Fauve Azur Elite while Noh Nafeng Yvan leveled for Coach Cyrille Billong’s APEJES to pick up a third draw this season.

Coach Guy Kamguia’s Fauve entered this round of matches hoping to build on the performance and result against Cotonsport last time out and were rewarded for their ambitious approach almost immediately.

Kameni scored the opener after five minutes, capitalizing on a defensive blunder from captain Cedric Djomo and mates to beat Ambassa Messobo in goal for the men from Mfou.

Kameni’s bright start to the game soon turned sour when he was sent off after 32 minutes after the match officials adjudged that he crashed into the turf and stayed on it as part of time wasting theatrics.

The dismissal by Abdel Mefire just after half hour of the game put Fauve in a deficit situation all afternoon.

APEJES multiplied their offensive moves after they were handed the numerical advantage in anticipation of a way back which will prevent a second Fauve win of the season.

In one of his trademark afternoon of tricks, Noh Nafeng exerted himself in the middle of the park and was rewarded for his shift late on, just when Fauve where about preparing to celebrate the three points.

Noh, former skipper of the U-17 Lions and a graduate from the Cameroon national football Academy unleashed an unstoppable shot from outside the area to make it 1-1 two minutes from time.
The first goal of the season from the 2023 UNIFFAC U-20 Gold medalist and former Manchester City intern was enough to bag home a point from another draw as either sides couldn’t get another goal in six minutes of additional time.

The draw means APEJES have played three draws and lost once this season while Fauve count a win and a draw from four so far.

Tekeu Parfait and his APEJES mates will be hoping to get their first win of the season this weekend when they confront struggling Victoria United FC while Fauve Azur Elite have an appointment with Fovu that is fresh from a win against Victoria United FC.
