Egyptian goalkeeper, Mohamed El Shenawy says he would consider the deals from Saudi Arabia AND Wigan Athletic if his club, Al Ahly approves it.

The 34-year-old was asked about some mouthwatering deals that is coming from Saudi Arabia club, Al Nassr and English second tier side, Wigan Athletic and the experienced shot stopper had this to say.

“I got an offer from Wigan and Al-Nasr, but the decision is in Al Ahly’s hands, if they agree, I agree, if they refuse.

“I am comfortable in the club here, and no matter how tempting the offers are, I will not go unless the club approves it.” Shenawy said as quoted by African football expert, Micky Junior.

Shenawy is an Al Ahly legend having started his career from the record CAF Champions League holders.

He was released in 2009, joining Tala’ea El Gaish. He spent time on loan with Haras El Hodoud before joining Petrojet in 2013.

He returned to Al Ahly in July 2016 and then displaced Sherif Ekramy. He helped the club to win 4 consecutive Egyptian Premier League titles seasons 2016–17, 2017–18, 2018–19 and 2019–20 and 2 consecutive CAF Champions League titles seasons 2019–20 and 2020–21.

The following year Al Ahly qualified to the 2021-22 CAF Champions League final, but was defeated against Wydad, in the next year Al Ahly won the 2022-23 CAF Champions League beating Wydad in the final, so the team has been in the final for 4 consecutive years, winning 3 finals of 4, making El Shenawy the only player that won the CAF Champions League three times as a captain.
