AFCON 2023: Moroccan quartet dominate Group Stage Best XI

Four players from the Moroccan senior men’s national team made the group stage best XI at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

They are Achraf Hakimi, Nayef Aguerd, Sofyan Amrabat, and Azzedine Ounahi.

The Atlas Lions topped Group F with seven points scoring five and conceding one with the quartet contributing to the success as they prepare to face South Africa in the Round of 16.

Holders, Senegal have three players in the group stage Best XI following the North Africans in the pecking order.

They are Kalidou Koulibaly, Lamine Camara, and Ismaila Sarr.

Equatorial Guinea have two players in the squad with goalkeeper, Jesus Owono and the tournament leading goal scorer, Emilio Nsue.

Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Angola have a player each in the team.

Arthur Masuaku (DRC) and Gelson Dala (Angola) complete the list of players.

Meanwhile, Senegalese coach whose team have the only perfect record in the tournament emerged as the best coach of the group stage.

Owono and Camara won the best goalkeeper and young player of the group stage respectively.
