Ahead of Saturday’s crucial Round of 16 clash between Cameroon and Nigeria in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the head coach of the Indomitable Lions is not afraid of the threats from the West African side.

Both sides will face off at the Felix Houphouet Boigny, the same venue where the Central African side won their first ever AFCON title in 1984.

After a sloppy start to their 2023 AFCON campaign with a point after two games and had to survive a late scare against the Gambia to secure a 3-2 win which was enough to seal a place in the knockout stage and a clash with the Super Eagles.

In his opening remark during the pre match press conference, the former Cameroon international, Song opined that his team is not in danger of an early exit.

“We you know you are in danger you are no longer in danger. Today, we are in a period we know what we want to do. We have prepared very well,” Song told journalists in Abidjan on Friday.

“There is nothing to look for in sport. We look for the positives and correct the negatives. We will correct and address what was wrong to get the necessary result.

Acknowledging the quality in Nigerian side, Song reiterated the importance of winning the match.

“I know that Nigeria is a very good team. We have met several times. It is a team we need to take very seriously. I know that my players are ready. For us to remain in the competition, we need to win the game.”

Super Eagles recorded a 3-2 win over the Indomitable Lions in both side’s last AFCON meeting in 2019 with Nigeria having good head-to-head record over the Central African side in recent times.
