- Zambia are through to the third round of the qualifiers after Mali’s abandonment
- The team is looking to achieve a second consecutive appearance in the Olympics games.
Zambia Women’s National team , Copper Queens have advanced to the third round of 2024 Paris Olympics qualifiers without kicking a ball.
Exempt from the first round , Copper Queens were set to play Mali in a double header later this month.
The development comes after FIFA Head of Qualifiers and international Matches Gordon Savic sent a letter to Football Association of Zambia ( FAZ ) , justifying Mali’s withdrawal.
Initially, the first leg of the qualifier was scheduled for 23 October in Bamako with the reverse fixture at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
A double victory against Atlas Lionesses of Morocco last month , Zambia are currently in action at the ongoing COSAFA Women’s Championship.
Bruce Mwape’s side hope to secure back-to-back appearances at Olympics finals following their maiden mark at the 2020 edition in Tokyo.
