  • Ylane Batix is set to break the records as he becomes the first and only Cameroonian player to participate in the Table Tennis World Cup
  • Batix’s victory is a result of his outstanding performance at the ITTF Africa Cup
  • The male and female squads also feature players from Nigeria, Egypt, and others

19 year-old Ylane Batix will become the first Cameroonian player to compete at the Table Tennis World Cup, set to take place in Macao, China, from the 14th to 20th of April.

Batix qualified after his impressive performance at the 2025 ITTF Africa Cup, where he eliminated top seeds to secure his spot. He is Cameroon’s sole representative.

The men’s squad also includes Quadri Aruna from Nigeria, the first African player to rank in the top 10 globally and reach the ITTF World Cup quarterfinals; Omar Assar from Egypt, a two-time Olympic quarterfinalist with outstanding international performances; and Mohamed El-Beiali from Egypt, who will make his second World Cup appearance after finishing as runner-up at the 2024 Africa Cup.

The women’s squad features Hana Goda, a 17-year-old Egyptian player who has established herself as Africa’s top female player with numerous continental titles; Dina Meshref, Africa’s most decorated table tennis player with nine Africa Cup titles; and Mariam Alhodaby, another Egyptian player, who will make her second World Cup appearance, showcasing her growing promise.
