  • Vincent Aboubakar has been out of action for close to two weeks
  • He returned on Monday night and featured in the final eight minutes of their 2-0 win against Konyaspor

Lethal Beşiktaş SK forward, Vincent Aboubakar featured for his club on Monday, February 18 as they defeated Konyaspor in what was his first appearance since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a hamstring problem.

Aboubakar, scorer of four goals and one assist in 13 games played the last eight minutes of regulation time on instruction from coach Fernando Santos who is allowing the record man time to progressively rediscover his best shape.

Goals from Semih Kılıçsoy and veteran midfielder Cenk Tosun ensured all three points remained at the Tüpraş Stadium and Beşiktaş picked up their 13th victory in 26 outings this season.

Though Aboubakar has been missed by his team, there’s no need to rush him as his colleagues have delivered to good effect in his absence.

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon skipper and Golden boot winner at AFCON 2021 could be the season shaper for the Istanbul-based club battling to be in UEFA competition qualification position at the end of the season.

Beşiktaş SK are currently fourth in the log with the same 43 points as third-place Trabzonspor.
